An instrumental leader and lifelong member of the PFD has been memorialized with the dedication of the Walter Leftwich Training Tower at our main station on Highway 73. “Walter helped start this department as a volunteer in 1970 and served numerous terms as president and as chairman of our board of directors,” Chief Stewart said. “He led the effort to have full-time, paid firefighters and made countless contributions to his colleagues in the fire service and to the continued safety of the people of Prairieville.”
