- Know Two Ways Out of Every Room – Ensure windows and doors open easily for quick exits.
- Teach Children How to Escape – Show them how to check doors for heat before opening and how to crawl low under smoke.
- Close Bedroom Doors at Night – This can slow the spread of fire and smoke.
- Have a Designated Meeting Spot Outside – Ensure all family members know where to go after escaping.
